Communion

Communion

I want to roll myself up in a sheet of grass like a blanket

Don a cloak of velvet moss

Clothe myself in nature’s textiles

Cool my face with clay

I want to dine with the swallows and the hummingbirds

Drink nectar from floral goblets

Sip dew from leafy cups

Sing along with the crickets in their scraping song.

I want to press myself into the earth, bury myself in it,

Burrow into it, so that I may be closer to the life force

Become indistinguishable from it

Until the pulsing of my heartbeat syncs

With the thrumming life rock and the light years of the sun.

I want to commune with creation.
